Master of Arts in musical interpretation

The Master of Arts in musical interpretation prepares students for the profession of a top-level musical performer, enabling them to access the jobs market as an independent artist or to practise their craft within music production institutions: orchestras or opera houses.   

The qualifications exists in two profiles: classical and ancient music (department of ancient music).

The significant number of fields of study makes it possible to cover, within the field of music, all the professions in musical interpretation.

Accompaniment and singing conductor option

This area of study prepares students for work as an accompanist on the piano at institutions producing or teaching music. The singing conductor option enables students to specialize their study pathway on the roles of conductor of singing for opera, and manager of the accompaniment and coaching of lyrical singers.

Concert

This area of study concerns the majority of students who are instrumentalists and singers. It prepares them for activity as a generalist musician and performer. Two options are offered, in the fields of chamber music and contemporary music.

Concert, contemporary music option

The pathway of students choosing this option takes as a priority, in the lessons on the main discipline and on ensemble music, on the practice of music in the 20th and 21st centuries.  An introduction to mixed music (acoustic-electro-acoustic) is also proposed.

MUSIQUE DE CHAMBRE

Concert, chamber music option

This option is aimed at ready-formed ensembles wishing to expand and work on the repertoire of a specific type of training (string quartet, trio with piano, etc.).

COMPO-MIXTE-OPTION-MULTIMEDIA-2

Concert, performer-composer option

Designed with a view to conceptualizing new trajectories in creative music, this option offers an integrated approach to interpretation and composition and/or improvisation.

Maestro al cembalo and conducting of baroque ensembles

This area of study prepares instrumentalists, conductors and singers for the directing of instrumental and/or vocal ensembles in the field of historical interpretation.
