Thanks to some agreements on collaboration, the HEM offers joint degrees, in conjunction with the Université de Genève's Faculté des Lettres and the Université de Neuchâtel’s Institut d'ethnologie.

A Bachelor of Arts specializing in music and musicology (Unige - HEM)

A Master of Arts in ethno-musicology (Unige – Unine – HEM)

To the students of the Haute école de musique, the Université offers:

  • Free access to the Faculté des Lettres’ libraries.
  • Free access to the classes and seminars of the Musicology Unit and the Department of French and Medieval Latin Languages and Literatures. Classes that are taken and validated are accounted for in the students’ HEM curriculum.
Formalities for registration

The HEM’s students must sign up with the UNIGE’s registration department using the code 30COURS.

A gateway between the HEM and the Université

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music from the HEM enables you to apply for a Master of Arts in musicology. In all cases, additional training is required. This can be done during the Bachelor’s degree, by taking the opening module in musicology, catch-up option.

The HEM offers the Université’s musicology students:

  • Free access to the Library of the Conservatoire de musique de Genève.
  • The ability to attend the HEM’s collective and semi-collective classes free of charge, and have them validated in some of the BA modules (BA2, BA15) and MA modules (MA4 or 5).

Depending on the classes chosen, you may be required to take a general test of musical education.
