The Haute école de musique de Genève offers an educational programme, in collaboration with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR), which leads to a Diploma of Advanced Studies in orchestral practice. The course, which is taught at both institutions, has the aim of expanding and adding depth to professional skills in orchestral practice (symphonic and lyric), in order to optimize candidates’ chances of success in orchestra competitions.

This course is reserved for candidates who are under the age of 29 (on 30 April 2024).

It is offered in the following disciplines: viola, horn and percussion.

The jury is made up of representatives of the Haute école de musique Genève and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, including the members of the academic board.

Instrumental testCandidates taking the instrumental test are required to present the required programme at the time of registration.  The jury decides on the works and orchestral excerpts that will be performed. The test is held in accordance with the usual terms and conditions of orchestra admissions competitions (with several rounds). It takes place in Geneva.

He or she must bring with them all the elements necessary in order to get to know and understand their application.  The interview also makes it possible to check the candidate’s knowledge of French.
