Students, teachers and staff at the HEM have access to the many services offered by the libraries at the Geneva and Neuchâtel sites. These libraries offer printed resources that can be borrowed and consulted on the premises, such as scores and books, which are listed in two separate catalogues for the Geneva and Neuchâtel sites, as well as electronic resources made available by the HES-SO.
Located at 35 rue de la Synagogue, the CMG-HEM Library offers a reading room, two computer workstations and a multifunction copier. Its collection includes over 200,000 items: several tens of thousands of scores ranging from standard editions for every vocal and instrumental formation, covering all periods of music history, to major monumental collections. Added to these are numerous methods and pedagogical works. The library also houses nearly 20,000 books on musicological and educational research, as well as microform documents.
Through the electronic resources of HES-SO, users have access to leading research and listening platforms, including RILM, RISM, JSTOR, The New Grove Dictionary of Music, Nkoda, Alexander Street and Naxos Music Library.

The Library is both a teaching and research facility and an archive of Geneva’s and Switzerland’s musical life, preserving composers’ collections and documents of historical interest. Its reserve holdings include rare printed works from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries and several hundred autograph manuscripts, among them works by Berlioz, Bloch, Britten, Glazunov, Honegger, Martinu, Rimsky-Korsakov and Stravinsky. The library also safeguards special collections, such as the Dimitry Markevitch Library dedicated to the cello and its history.

The Library of the Haute école de musique de Genève – Neuchâtel site is an academic library located on the second floor of the building, where it shares space with the libraries of the Neuchâtel Conservatoire of Music and the Haute école de gestion Arc. Musical scores form the heart of the collection, including methods and repertoire for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral works and vocal music. The holdings are complemented by periodicals, reference works and recordings.
As part of the national Swisscovery network (around 500 libraries), the library also provides access to leading research and listening platforms via the electronic resources of HES-SO, as well as those of the Geneva site library.
The library offers study spaces, a workstation for catalogue consultation and a terminal linked to the Swiss National Sound Archives, enabling the listening of audio documents.
