Crossroads of musical and technological innovation

CIMME is dedicated to contemporary creation and artistic experimentation in the era of immersive and interactive technologies.

At the crossroads of music, visual arts, performance and digital media, CIMME encourages collaboration between musicians, artists and researchers. It develops a resolutely transdisciplinary approach: a space where practices meet, transform each other, and give rise to new hybrid artistic languages.

Its mission is to promote exchanges between creation and research, to explore emerging forms of sound and multimedia creation, and to support artists in their appropriation of contemporary technologies.

Activities and projects

CIMME is developing several areas of activity:

  • An immersive ambisonic 3D sound spatialisation system, soon to be enhanced with a virtual and augmented reality device, combining sound and visual experiences.
  • Artistic residencies welcoming established creators and young talents for exploration and research-creation projects.
  • Professional training courses in 3D sound, interactive creation, sound design and multimedia tools.
  • The ACTOR project — an international research and creation network dedicated to issues of timbre and orchestration, bringing together artists, teachers and researchers.
In synergy with the ARTeM centre

CIMME works closely with ARTeM (Accompagnement et Réalisation Technique pour les Musicien-ne), the HEM's technical centre dedicated to recording, audiovisual capture, sound engineering and support for artistic projects.

This complementary relationship provides students, teachers and artists with a comprehensive technological environment, combining technical expertise and a research and creation space dedicated to experimental and immersive practices.

A creative laboratory within the HEM Genève

Located at the heart of the HEM Genève, CIMME offers a unique setting for experimenting, learning and developing innovative artistic projects.

Its expertise in artificial intelligence, immersive audio, sound spatialisation, interactive creation and digital media enables students and artists to train in emerging artistic practices and the technologies of tomorrow.

An international outlook

CIMME is part of a dynamic network of partnerships with research centres, artists and institutions around the world, promoting exchanges and the emergence of collaborative projects on a global scale.
