CAS in the Jaques-Dalcroze method

This training enables professionals in music, dance or pedagogy to familiarize themselves with the Dalcrozian principles, in order to apply them in their professional practice.

Target audience and admission criteria

This training is aimed at professionals wanting to pass on musical knowledge through bodily movement, active listening and musical practice that is bursting with life. The special feature of this course is that the teaching is done by practising yourself; it promotes interaction and an all-round apprenticeship, increasing the learner’s sensitivity through their senses and emotions.

To be admitted to this course, the candidate must have a degree from a higher school (BA or equivalent) at the following establishments: dance and theatre schools and troupes, Universities, Hautes écoles spécialisées, Hautes écoles pédagogiques.

Annual training cheque

The continuing education courses offered by the HEM are approved by the State of Geneva for the annual training cheque (CAF).

Skills targeted
  • Have methodological knowledge and knowledge about teaching (links between music and movement), in order to adapt it to their own teaching.  
  • Experiment with a practical apprenticeship, personally initiate and encourage in other people actions in space, in movement, promoting a refined ear, and sensibility of the nervous system.
  • Discovering lived music, carried in space by bodily movement and interaction with others, understand and develop your own relationship with it.
