Leading a choir
The BA with directing a choir as its main discipline, dispensed by the vocal department, proposes combining training in directing a choir with vocal studies.
This training is intended for students with proven vocal qualities and a good ear, and a predisposition for gestures and communication with other people. To enable these skills to be acquired, the HEM offers individual singing lessons, and classes on leading a choir, in the classroom or with the HEM’s choir workshop, enabling students to develop analytical abilities and conducting technique, and to familiarize themselves with rehearsal work.
Once the BA has been achieved, the HEM’s desire is to support the students towards their future professional career. There are thus plenty of opportunities to appear in public, either as a singer or as a choir conductor. What’s more, the preparation for the workplace offers the students the tools necessary to get to know their future career.
