Résumé

Ganassi’s treatise, published in 1535, is one of the first sources for our knowledge of the art of ornamentation in Renaissance music. He is constantly eliciting interest and debate among the musicians of our age. After a disc dedicated to the works of Philippe Verdelot, interpreted in a way that adheres to this treatise by Doulce Mémoire and Denis Raisin Dadre, we now have William Dongois and his ensemble Le Concert Brisé (The Broken Concerto) proposing a new illustration, created as part of his teaching at the Haute école de musique de Genève. Here, the repertoire used is far more varied, with the use of motets, madrigals, songs and dances from a very wide range of Flemish, French and Italian sources, with a particularly varied collection of instruments.
