Composition of mixed music, multimedia option

It is aimed at composers, musicians and performers who are investing in digital media, and at inter-disciplinary artists with a passion for music. Comfortable with new technologies, the students work on the basis of a diverse range of influences and methods to create original works that include electronic, electro-acoustic or instrumental composition, in combination with video, the web, performance, and the visual and aural arts. They are interested in the cultural, societal, theoretical, technical and aesthetic issues around music and the new media. They broaden their creative practices and their technical knowledge in order to stimulate artistic innovation. They collaborate with the other departments of the HEM and are regularly in contact with guest artists and professional ensembles.

The level of education on completion of the Master’s is advanced, and includes knowledge in the field of electronic music and interactive media that will enable young graduates to access a range of professional activities in the fields of music, digital arts, dance or theatre.

The field of activity is fairly broad and includes:

• The composition of electronic and mixed music;
• The composition of interactive works (images, video, sensors, transducers, web and new media);
• The development and design of new digital lutes;
• Interpretation and performance with the new media (new instruments, images, sensors, etc.);
• The integration of creative processes stemming from new technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Big Data, etc.)
• The teaching of new technologies associated with music and the new media.
