Presentation of the project

New models of diplomacy of culture have emerged in recent decades, which apply particularly well to diplomacy through music.   Associative and participatory, these new strategies create networks, involve audiences through mediation, and become attached to relational aspects more than to the message itself. The creation of new infrastructure for the production and teaching of music in Geneva, located next to the Palais des Nations, provides an opportunity to conduct an inventory of, and put to the test, models and good practice for musical diplomacy of this kind. In partnership with a diverse range of diplomatic bodies, non-governmental organisations and music teaching institutions, the project aims to develop critical thinking on this type of action. On top of three specific one-off projects, an experiment will be conducted with an ephemeral centre, a space at the intersection of diplomacy and teaching, implementing and serving up for reflection an intercultural education within the meaning set out by UNESCO.
