The aim of the research project "Interpréter la musique polyphonique entre Ars antiqua et Ars nova" is to test the techniques of music reading (solmization, notation and counterpoint) as described in treatises from the 13th and 14th centuries, in order to rediscover a musical practice that allows us to consider the interpretation of polyphonic music from the late 13th and early 14th centuries in a relevant, critical and differentiated way. To begin this research, works by Adam de la Halle and Philippe de Vitry were chosen. They have been worked on by a vocal polyphony class at the CMG, as well as by several groups of musicians and specialists in literature, philosophy, politics, linguistics, phonetics and pronunciation restoration, who compared their readings with a view to concerts and the dissemination of the results obtained through seminars and training courses.
