The Power of Place: Exploring cultural landscapes through exhibition design

Exhibition design is mainly about crafting experiences. It is a creative process that involves translating complex ideas and themes into physical spaces that are accessible and inspiring for visitors. Through the use of lighting, sound and visuals, the scenography can transport visitors to another world, evoking a sens of context and meaning.

In this lecture, Ghaith Abi Ghanem and Jad Melki, the scenographers of the exhibition Beirut. The Eras of Design, will explore the key principles and techniques they use in their exhibition design. They will examine examples from their practice that sensitively extend and reflect the concerns of the curatorial brief and the context in which they produce the exhibition, and discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise in the design process. From concept development and visual design to visitor engagement and public accessibility, they will cover the essential elements of designing exhibition that are both memorable and impactful.
