Aurélie Elisa Gfeller is associate professor and dean of studies at the HEAD – Genève. She earned her PhD in history from Princeton University (2008). She also holds Master’s degrees in history and art history from the University of Lausanne and in international relations from Stanford University. She was a guest lecturer and research fellow at the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute in Florence and at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. She also worked for a major cultural institution, Geneva’s opera house, where she was in charge of donor relations. Before joining the HEAD – Genève, she was head of program management services within the Research Office of EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. She has published extensively on international relations, the history of European integration, and global cultural heritage. She is the author of Building a European Identity: France, the United States, and the Oil Sock, 1973–74 (Berghahn, 2012), and her peer-reviewed articles have appeared in such venues as the Journal of Contemporary History, the Journal of Global History, the Journal of World History, the Journal of Social Archaeology, and the International Journal of Heritage Studies. Her article on “The Authenticity of Heritage: Global Norm-Making at the Crossroads of Cultures” was published in the American Historical Review (122, 2017). For her scholarship on cultural heritage, she won a Swiss (SNIS) award for academic works with policy relevance.

 

Aurélie Elisa Gfeller est professeure associée et responsable de la coordination de l’enseignement à la HEAD – Genève. Elle a obtenu son doctorat en histoire à l’Université de Princeton en 2008 après une licence ès lettres à l’Université de Lausanne et un master en relations internationales à l’Université de Stanford. Elle a été chercheuse et professeure invitée au Centre Robert Schuman de l’Institut universitaire européen de Florence et à l’Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement de Genève. Elle a également travaillé dans une institution culturelle importante, le Grand Théâtre de Genève, où elle était responsable des relations avec les mécènes. Avant de rejoindre la HEAD – Genève, elle dirigeait à l’EPFL, l’École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, une entité responsable de la gestion de programmes de financement de la recherche de grande envergure.

Ses domaines d’expertise scientifique sont l’histoire des relations internationales et de l’intégration européenne et le patrimoine culturel mondial. Elle est l’auteure de Building a European Identity: France, the United States, and the Oil Sock, 1973–74 (Berghahn, 2012) et a publié des articles dans des revues telles que le Journal of Contemporary History, le Journal of Global History, le Journal of World History, le Journal of Social Archaeology et l’International Journal of Heritage Studies. Ses travaux sur le patrimoine culturel ont été récompensés d’un prix (SNIS) distinguant les publications académiques dotées d’implications plus larges pour le public.
