HEAD at the 30th edition of GIFF

Geneva International Film Festival
From 1 to 10 November 2024

his year three HEAD departments are taking part in GIFF 2024:

The Master Media Design is taking part in the 30th edition of the GIFF Festival from 1 to 10 November 2024. Projects include Delusional Souvenirs, an interactive installation by Mathilde Schibler and Océane Serrat, and Soon to Disappear, an augmented reality work by Andreia Rodrigues. Amaury Hamon will be presenting Pathways, an immersive website, and Douglas Edric Stanley, a lecturer in the Master's programme, will be taking part in a panel discussion on AI in generative creation.

  • Territoires Virtuels I : Swissphoria
Mathilde Schibler and Océane Serrat, second-year students, present Delusional Souvenirs, an intriguing interactive experience. Visitors will receive a personalized postcard, which could be their most cherished memory... unless it self-destructs almost instantly, highlighting the ecological impact of our tourist activities.
  • NeoDoc: Soon to Disappear
Mathilde Schibler and Océane Serrat, second-year students, present Soon to Disappear, an augmented reality piece that captures and shares the stories of communities living in buildings destined for demolition. This project offers a profound reflection on our relationship with built heritage. It is part of the NeoDoc collection, dedicated to new documentary forms, and was developed as part of a residency funded by the Pôle de création numérique.
  • Swiss interactive sessions au GDM
Amaury Hamon, a 2024 graduate of the Master Media Design, will present his project Pathways is a website that allows for contemplative exploration of networked media, immersing users in an evolving 3D landscape of handpicked content, breaking away from the passive, linear scrolling of algorithmic feeds.

Création générative : The Adoption of AI as a Global Tool
Tuesday, November 5, from 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM at Théâtre Pitoëff : Douglas Edric Stanley, a faculty member of the Master Media Design, will participate in a panel discussing innovations around the use of AI tools in generative creation.

The Cinema Department is also taking part in the festival with its first and second year students to attend the exceptional Masterclass by Ava DuVernay, who will receive the Film&Beyond prize, awarded by GIFF in partnership with HEAD.

The Product Design, Jewellery and Accessories Department will have joined forces to design the trophy that will be awarded at the next two editions of the festival.
As a result of a workshop led by François Dumas, the drawings, models and prototypes submitted by the 13 Bachelor students were used to select the design proposed by Juliette Raymond: inspired by a puzzle made up of six pieces that fit together like a star, the new trophy makes reference to the stars of cinema.
