Financial support
Various services and institutions are available to students in need of financial support for their studies. Proposals vary according to the personal situation of each student (cantonal residence, field of study or level of study). Please read the following descriptions carefully.
In general, students who are in a difficult social situation or who are looking for scholarships can contact the Financial Service of the University of Geneva. According to an agreement between the University of Geneva and the HES-SO Geneva, the mission of the Financial Service is to support or advise HEAD – Genève students in their search for ways to overcome any difficulties, including financial difficulties or scholarship applications. Made up of professionals in the field of social action, this service has expertise in scholarship matters and can provide concrete solutions - even in emergencies - to all delicate situations.
Students of Swiss nationality or with a C permit must contact the cantonal loans and grants service of their canton of residence. For the Canton of Geneva, the Service des bourses et prêts d'études (SBPE) receives the requests. For all other students, the Financial Service of Unige can provide answers.
Master's students also have access to two other programs: the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships and the Hirschmann Foundation's grants.
In addition to the above, HEAD – Genève benefits from the generous support of the Vahabzadeh Foundation, which awards scholarships to students each year. To apply for such a scholarship, it is necessary to have completed a first year of study at HEAD – Genève and to meet certain conditions. Applications are sent by HEAD – Genève to the foundation.
The AHEAD Foundation's "Coup de pouce" fund aims to complete these financial supports by granting one-time assistance to students who are faced with a financial emergency or who are unable to meet expenses directly related to their studies (material for a workshop, diploma costs, expenses related to a study trip). Requests should be addressed to the Academic Advisor who will forward them to the Foundation.
Please note! The granting of scholarships or study loans may be subject to restrictive conditions, notably concerning the deadline for submitting applications, the fact of having already obtained a certain number of ECTS credits, the maximum duration of studies and the successful completion of the planned degree. We advise you to read the regulations for scholarships and loans very carefully. Keep careful copies of all documents you produce and receive in connection with applications for scholarships and loans. If you have difficulties in preparing your financial aid application, you may contact Émilie Parendeau, Academic Advisor.
