An encounter proposeb by the Chaire in Watch Design

Conference on pilote's watches by Grégory Gardinetti (Foundation High Horology)
In both ancient and modern times, watchmaking has been the progress of mankind, as those achieved in aviation. How can one imagine that these improbable airplanes have crossed the Channel or the oceans blindly without the control of time? This conference will address the history of time measurement instruments and their evolution through a chronology of their mutual developments.

Grégory Gardinetti's biography

After graduating from high school in physics and applied mathematics, he studied history, linguistics and geography at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland). In 2006, he joined the internationally renowned Musée International d’Horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) as an archivist specialising in the history of time measurement, a subject that quickly captured his attention.  During his three years at the Museum, Grégory helped stage exhibitions, wrote texts for publication, and conducted research into the history of horology. In early 2010, he was approached by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva to succeed its expert and historian, who was retiring.  Grégory's main responsibilities are to organise exhibitions on watchmaking around the world, lecture on themes relating to time measurement, write on watches and watchmaking, and approve the historical and scientific content of the Foundation's website.
The Foundation of High Horology  exists to promote the culture and expertise of fine watchmaking as widely as possible.
