Workspace at CERCCO 2013 / Artist's residency

December 2013

Every year it is also inviting applications for two residencies of 3 months’ duration. This offer is called Workspace at CERCCO and is open to designers, artists, architects and ceramists wishing to experiment and to carry out a specific project.

CERCCO will make available a wide range of technical and artistic expertise, allowing the resident artist to work autonomously.

HEAD – Genève will also contribute 5000 Swiss francs to assist with project implementation costs, corresponding to the provision of raw materials and firing.

[…] The materials and the subject matter are given; the study object is the association of the porcelain body with light. The designer duo is particularly interested in the formation of bubbles or whitespace in the material during the pouring and firing process; therefore what might normally be considered as undesirable and ultimately a failure in the pouring process, will here be the concept platform for the ceramic project.
[…]  The longer we evaluate the experiments the less we trust in our project sketches. The material is meant to find its own path and this is exactly how the first results from this experimental series evolved. All are unique pieces, yet produced in one and the same production process.
