Study day In their Own Words 18.03.2024 - program

In Their Own Words (ITOW) seeks to explore and bring together the rich yet largely neglected repertoire of women artists' conversations made in the pioneering phase of feminist art and art history. At the same time, it aims to produce a method of oral transmission, in the context of an inclusive history of contemporary art. Symptomatic of a confidence in the cognitive potential of personal narrative and direct access to artistic practices, the sound interview and podcast are used in this project to bear witness to a diverse range of voices and perspectives in official histories that are still largely lacunar.
