Studio - SPATIAL TIMES, GPHG

June 2025

Atelier dirigé par Simon Husslein (Atelier Simon Husslein)
Assisté par Chiara Kocis, Alexandra Miskufova

This studio focused on the design of an exhibition scenography for HEAD – Genève, developed in collaboration with the Fondation du Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). Continuing a tradition of installations by HEAD – Genève as part of the annual GPHG exhibition, students conceptualised the 2025 edition. Hosted within the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, this exhibition showcased timepieces designed by the department of watch design at HEAD – Genève, alongside digital experiences conceived during the course.

Throughout the project, students engaged with key topics including the history of timekeeping, best practices in VR, and methodologies for analysing exhibition spaces and layouts. Cutting-edge technologies such as virtual and mixed reality headsets were employed to conceptualise and refine design ideas at a 1:1 scale. Additionally, students acquired proficiency in 3D scanning techniques, utilising these scans to enhance the implementation of their scenographic concepts. By the end of the semester, participants had developed a comprehensive understanding of time perception in virtual environments, exhibition design strategies, and advanced technological tools. This project prepared students for professional practice by equipping them with the skills to create immersive and innovative spatial narratives that bridged the physical and digital realms.
