Studio - DÉFILÉ HEAD 2025

June 2025

Studio led by Philippe Rahm (Philippe Rahm Architectes)
Assisted by Valentin Calame (studio chaos)

The aim of the studio was to acquire practical knowledge of stage scenography tools and special effects (light, smoke, foam, lasers, etc.).

The objective of the semester was to design, draw, calculate, materialize, budget, and then build the scenography for the fashion show of the Fashion Design department at HEAD, which took place in autumn 2025 in the vast 2,500 m² indoor space of the HEAD Cube. The starting point of the work was to acquire an understanding of the various special effects techniques used in shows and concerts (lasers, lighting, smoke, foam, etc.), which, when you think about it, are more related to designing atmosphere, air, light, sound, and the intangible, rather than the solid and tangible.

To this technical dimension, we added one of the defining characteristics of fashion: its seasonality — that of collections and runway shows for Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter, Resort/Cruise, which structure the year, and that of clothing itself, of style in relation to heat, cold, and rain. But the objective was also to serve our clients, responding to the demand for perfect legibility of the designers’ work — in terms of lighting, backdrop, for both the audience and photographers.
