Scenography HEAD Fashion Show's Catwalk

November 2019

Studio tutor : Leonid Slonimskiy
Assistant: Bertrand van Dorp
Student who designed the project: Paulo Jorge Dias

The scenography for the catwalk, designed for the first time by HEAD’s Interior Architecture Department, was particularly impressive. The selected project, POESIE (POETRY), inspired by a cult place in Geneva, Les Bains des Pâquis, was designed by BA graduate Paulo Jorge Diaz. The students then developed this scenography under the leadership of Bertrand Van Dorp and Leonid Slonimskiy.

POESIE (“poetry”) features a decontextualization of an iconic site in Geneva: Bains des Pâquis (Pâquis Baths). Thanks to their location and their simple and harmonious architecture, the Bains inadvertently invite its visitors to parade along the jetty in idyllic setting. The parallel drawn between the Bains and the Fashion Show is thus made obvious. Architectural fragments are carefully selected, proportioned and gathered in order to create a unique structure that reinterprets the actual thing. We perceive the rhythm of the changing rooms, the diving platforms wrapped by stairs, and the word “poetry” perched at the top, all of this enshrouded in a scaffolding net that draws a link between the worlds of architecture and fashion.
