DEFILE HEAD 2022

November 2022

Gabrielle Huguenot, Xavier Weber, Norman Mabire-Larguier and the duo composed of Louise Le Berre and Zoé Marmier were awarded the four grand Prizes during HEAD FASHION SHOW 2022 which took place this Friday evening at the University of Art and Design. All the Bachelor and Master collections presented showed a freshness, a modernity and a real passion for fashion, thus dazzling the international jury and the audience of more than 1,800 people gathered in a triangular scenography. HEAD's Fashion and Accessory Design department showed that inclusivity, gender issues and upcycling were not just speeches but really made this show an explosion of creativity, joy, energy and audacity.

Four prizes were awarded at the end of the evening. The jury was charmed and bewitched by Lady Snake, the femme fatale imagined by Gabrielle Huguenot, who dared to take many risks with her Master collection "Artificial flowers also need water". She took up the challenge with style, offering a collection with impeccable execution, in a fascinating and coherent universe. Ilaria Resta, President of FIRMENICH Perfumery, awarded her the Grand Prix Master Firmenich, providing her with CHF 10,000 and giving the opportunity of the creation of a perfume in the Firmenich laboratories, thus giving a new dimension to her collection.

The international jury considered Xavier Weber's "Magma" project to be accomplished and mastered, with its tailored silhouettes and remarkable materials. The jury was particularly impressed by the right balance between creativity and realism in his Bachelor collection. Margot Scheuer, BONGENIE GRIEDER's purchasing director, awarded the Prix Bachelor Bongénie, a prize of CHF 5,000 for the most outstanding Bachelor collection.

The Prix La Redoute x HEAD was awarded to Norman Mabire-Larguier, a Master graduate. His approach to volumes, his accuracy in cutting and the efficiency of his approach are proof of his high standards. "With La Redoute, Norman's challenge will be to make his models accessible without betraying the aesthetics of his silhouettes," said Sylvette Lepers, Head of Image and Designer partnerships at La Redoute, while emphasizing the purity of his creations. La Redoute will commercialise Norman Mabire's collection in winter 2023 and his capsule will be available on La Redoute platform and Galeries Lafayette.

The HEAD x Eyes on Talents Award was presented by Francesca Meloni, Eyes on Talents consultant, to the duo Louise Le Berre and Zoé Marmier who "created one of the most original fashion collections dealing with societal normativity issues. The winning duo researched and proposed a series of options through their graduation collection in a creatively challenging result, as well as an exciting alternative to the representation of norms in society." Louise Le Berre and Zoé Marmier will join the platform's international talent pool and receive coaching in the development of their portfolio, one of the important steps in launching a successful career path in the fashion world.

Jean-Pierre Greff, director of HEAD, whose last fashion show as director, said: "Fashion, as we have seen it tonight, makes the world more joyful, free, fluid, peaceful and respectful of all singularities. It draws a new world: fashion is the world without hate! – La mode, c’est le monde sans N (haine) – Let's remember that in 15 years, Jean-Pierre Greff has raised the Fashion Design Department to a totally unexpected level in a territory not known for being fertile in this field.

Lutz Huelle, the new Head of the Fashion & Accessory Design Department, underlined the important role that Jean-Pierre Greff has played: "You have not only raised the school to the top - referring to the newspaper headline seen in the streets of Geneva on Friday - but above all the fashion department, which has become, under your leadership, one of the best fashion schools in the world.[...] I am immensely grateful and proud to be part of this school and its great teams. I promise you that we will do everything we can to make sure this department stays on top!"

The Management and the Fashion Design department of HEAD warmly thank all the partners without whom this event would not be possible: Firmenich, Bongénie Grieder, Chloé, La Redoute, eyes on talents, Le Bal des Créateurs, Kevin Murphy and Cloud Nine, Caudalie, Manotel, our media partners: Le Temps and its magazine T, Novembre magazine, Temple magazine, Go Out! and Léman Bleu TV, as well as our new partner LAURASTAR, whose products have already worked miracles backstage during the fashion show!
