When an educational project brings lasting change to a public space: the signage at Parc des Franchises comes to life!
Developed as part of the “Spatial Design” course led by Martine Anderfuhren and Rob van Leijsen, this project was based on a concrete challenge: to rethink the visitor experience in one of Geneva’s main green spaces.
From analyzing site usage (observations, surveys, photographs, interviews, and maps) to the design phase, and from prototyping to the final implementation, the students led the entire design process.
Congratulations to Julie Babey, Mélissa CALAME-LONGJEAN, Sara Gamito, and Nina Wandoch for this remarkable work. Their proposal stands out for its accessible and adaptable system of engraved wooden panels, which offers multiple levels of interpretation and symbolically gives voice to the century-old park.
It will be presented at the inauguration of Parc des Franchises, in the presence of officials from the State of Geneva and the City of Geneva, the OCAN project manager (Tiphaine Bussy-Blunier), the landscape architects in charge of the park’s renovation, park users and associations, as well as HEAD faculty members and the relevant alumni.
