As part of the LUNDIS - LIVRES program, we are pleased to invite you to meet Kaoutar Harchi, who will present her book Ainsi l’animal et nous (Animals and Us), published by Actes Sud.

Animals are everything. They are themselves, of course, but above all they are what we make of them. We, humans. Because every time we talk about animals, we are really only talking about their animality: the animal state that we decree to be inferior. Thus we animalize animals, we make them killable, and we kill them without remorse. This animal state, humans claim, is not unique to animals, it is also that of certain humans. These others: women, proletarians, racial minorities who, being neither men, nor bourgeois, nor white, have been excluded from the moral community by rape, by the factory, by the whip, by the smoking out of caves, by persecution and by imprisonment. Because they have been animalized. Both theoretical and autobiographical, Ainsi l'animal et nous calls on us to recognize the totality of the animal question, in which all the questions of our world come together. It then becomes possible to hold together everything that goes together, to undo everything that has been done. And then to do it all over again.

LUNDIS - LIVRES
What are books for? What role should books play in art and design studies? How does fiction feed into critical essay, or vice versa? And how does the form of the book add to the meaning of the subject?
The LUNDIS-LIVRES programme offers privileged opportunities for discussion with leading figures from the fields of art and design, whose works inform and advance our practice. These meetings, lectures and workshops are open to the public and open to the entire HEAD community.
