ISSUE, HEAD's multidisciplinary journal, is an echo chamber for the critical, practical, and theoretical reflections developed there. The journal's design has been completely revamped for improved interactivity and greater reading comfort.
Are you a student looking to watch a lecture that took place before you enrolled in school? Are you a teacher looking to expand your course bibliography with cutting-edge, accessible articles? Are you a researcher in art and design, an artist or designer, or simply curious about critical perspectives in art and design and want to keep up with the latest research and teaching at HEAD? Then ISSUE is for you!
A cross between a research journal and a magazine, ISSUE presents the results of long-term projects, features interviews and profiles, and publishes significant work by students (theses, workshops, etc.). It publishes thematic dossiers and articles in French and English, at a rate of around sixty per year.
The design and navigation of the new site make it easier to read the articles and multimedia thematic dossiers (text, images, videos, podcasts, and interactive modules) that make up the magazine's rich content. Thanks to a cross-search system, it is possible to easily navigate through the more than 300 articles already published. Finally, a PDF generator allows each article to be exported in a printable and annotatable format.
The design was entrusted to the E+K studio (Élise Gay & Kévin Donnot), following a successful initial collaboration with HEAD on the “Design and Machine Learning” research project, whose associated poster series, Davinci's Insights, won first prize in 2023 from the Academy of Fine Arts at the Chaumont International Poster Competition.
