TORTURE MUST END NOW
The Association “Artistes Contre la Torture” (ACT) is pleased to welcome you to this exhibition in partnership with the Haute École d'Art et de Design de Genève (HEAD).
“No one shall be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”, states the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was to keep this promise that the ACT Association was created, proposing a link between art and human rights.
This year, ACT has invited 11 students from HEAD Geneva to share their work inspired by this Declaration. With the support of Professor Bruno Serralongue and guest artist Dorian Sari, the students created some 30 works of art to call for respect for the absolute prohibition of torture. For the students, torture includes mental and physical torture, modern slavery, as well as the issue of gender-based violence. Each student used a unique approach and visual language for his or her work.
ACT is an association that campaigns against torture through art and supports the actions of the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in protecting prisoners.

“No one shall be subjected to torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman, degrading or inhuman treatment or punishment” states the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. It is to uphold this promise that ACT proposes to bridge art and human rights. This year ACT has invited 11 students from HEAD Geneva to share their work inspired by this promise. With the support of Professor Bruno Serralongue and invited artist Dorian Sari, the students created thirty pieces of art to call for the respect of the absolute prohibition of torture. In the eyes of the students, torture includes mental and physical torture, modern-day slavery, as well as the issue of gender-based violence. Each student used a unique approach and visual language in their works of art.
