HEAD – Genève is partnering with Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts, London) to launch CONNECTIONS, an educational workshop uniting 56 students from both institutions in a collaborative creative project.
Over six weeks, young designers from the Bachelor programs in Product Design - Jewellery, and Accessory at HEAD and Jewellery Design at CSM will work together online, guided by internationally renowned teachers, to produce a series of unique creations. These final works will be showcased in a joint exhibition in London from February 14 to 15, 2025, promising a cultural and temporal journey between tradition and innovation.
Two Themes to Inspire Creativity
- Here and There: Students explore their cultural identity and geographical environment to develop their creative process. By revisiting traditional ornaments from their respective countries, they reflect on the concept of belonging and the opportunities offered by intercultural exchange.
-Past and Future: This theme focuses on merging traditional techniques with contemporary digital tools, such as artificial intelligence, computer-aided design (CAD), and 3D printing. This intersection of approaches enables the development of new methodologies and forms of expression.
A Dynamic Teaching Approach
The project includes teacher exchanges between Geneva and London, joint classes, and collaborative online workshops, where 18 students from HEAD and 38 from CSM work hand in hand. At HEAD, the program is enriched by the participation of internationally renowned jewelry designer Silvia Weidenbach, known for her innovative approach and use of digital technologies in contemporary jewelry.
Final Exhibition in London
The project will culminate in an exhibition at Galleria Objets, a renowned venue in London’s contemporary jewelry scene. Running from February 12 to 14, 2025, the exhibition will highlight the students’ creations and the vibrant connections between HEAD and the English art scene, offering exceptional visibility to students among industry professionals.
This project is made possible thanks to the support of Presence Switzerland.
