"Afflatus"
In Dutch language a word exist called ‘bezieling’. It is difficult to translate this word into another language but it literally means ‘to give a soul to something.’ AFFLATUS Whenever the word is used in relation to a work of art it often describes an imaginative power that communicates on a spiritual and emotional level.  It means the viewer is touched by something that transcends the material of which the artwork has been made. For an artist it is a challenge to reach this level of concentration, because it demands great dedication to be able to bring the material to life. AFFLATUS will focus on this process of making; to look with your eyes and with your soul and to work with your intuition as a source of creation.

Ruudt Peters
Beginning in the 1970's, Ruudt Peters (Naaldwijk NL, 1950), a pioneering Dutch jewellery artist, challenged traditional definitions of adornment by pushing the boundaries of context, wearability, materials and presentation. He has exerted a strong influence on the development of contemporary jewellery as an artist and as a professor at some of the most prestigious universities in Europe, the Gerrit Rietveld Academie 1990-2000, Amsterdam, Konstfack University of Arts and Crafts in Stockholm 2004- 2009, and Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Firenze, Italy 2010-2015. At the moment Peters is member of the board of MASieraad and they are initiating the MASieraad MA program at PXL-MAD Hasselt-Belgium.
Ruudt Peters has invigorated the thinking about, and practice of, the presentation of jewellery in context related installations. Since 1986 he has been publishing books accompanying his jewellery collections, which he exhibited at galleries, museums and other institutes around the world. He curated different group exhibitions, among them: "Lingam" (Museum Catherijneconvent Utrecht, NL, 2010), "Body Alchemy" (Museum of Contemporary Art of CAA, Hangzhou, China, 2015), "21 gram" (Museum of Craft and design CAA, Hangzhou, China, 2018).
