In her new work Melanie Akeret rearranges found images of children wearing face paint into monochromatic paintings that dissolve pictorial hierarchies and point towards the economical and social backdrop of painting. In the middle of the space there is a sound installation, a window and burnt textiles depicting a smoking dragon by the Broken Promises Crew. One of the posters by Ye Xe situated on the wall outside announces the geometrical figure of a surface with only one side and boundary as “The Old Möbius Strip”. Comparable to a Möbius strip, this presentation brings together what might seem apart. The three artists combine their work with the production by other authors. They are working with sound and found imagery, use pseudonyms and question established notions of authorship.
