Science meets fiction conference in collaboration with Arts at Cern

Does science need fiction? Does fiction still need science? What kind of fictional spaces, and fictional scenarios emerge when scientists and artists collaborate? This conference in collaboration with Arts at CERN will focus on the mutual influences between science and fiction throughout artists and scientists interventions and panels. From bio-design to particle physics, we will explore collaborations that lead to different types of outcomes such as new media formats and new narratives in various fields ranging from interaction design, to product design and visual arts.

Speakers:
Cassandre Poirier Simon, designer interactive narration, alumni Master Media Design
Christina Hemauer & Roman Keller, artists in residence at CERN
Helga Timko, particle physicist working in the operation of the LHC,
Laura Couto Rosado, designer and artist, alumni Master Media Design
Leslie Thornton, filmaker and artist in residence at CERN
Marc Atallah, Maison d’Ailleurs, Yverdon Les Bains,
Nadya Suvorova, Interactive media designer, alumni Master Media Design
Rosa Menkman, visual artist, curator and Collide International residency award 2019 recipient
