The exhibition mounted by HEAD - Genève reflects the wide range of objects covered by the BA in Product Design and the MA in Fashion and Accessory Design.  Accessories today take pride of place in the daily equipment of the contemporary individual, whether a common key holder or a connected device
typical of the 21^st century. They have become vital to the super-modern human being, always on the move, always connected, surrounded with an overabundance of space and information as defined by the anthropologist Marc Augé.  Some accessories are even integrated in the body, medical devices such as hearing aids, contemporary ornaments such as piercings, and always at hand such as the indispensable mobile phone which harbours all of our social selves. Today, the accessory enhances the person and has become necessary to the performance of the self in contemporary society. Though a large part of our world now occupies a virtual and immaterial dimension, we are still material girls and boys, dependent on accessories, primarily situated on our bodies. As long as objects are meaningful vectors in our relationships with others, with society and with the environment, and the more materials are intricately connected to the body and the person, the realm of jewellery and the skills required will have a part to play in society and in the lives of individuals. The wealth of creative opportunities is limitless and provides the guiding vision of the training programme set up in Jewellery, Accessories and Watches by the Product Design Department at HEAD – Genève. 

We are honoured to exhibit alongside the leading Design Universities of China and to contribute to a cultural dialogue between our two countries.
