HES Senior Lecturer in History and Theory of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Design

HEAD – Genève’s Interior Architecture Department trains designers to meet the many contemporary challenges pertaining to urban densification, the emergence of eco-neighbourhoods, and the intermingling of populations. The various skills taught in the Interior Architecture programme include designing public and private spaces, working and living spaces, temporary constructions and furniture destined to last. An MA programme (2 years, 120 ECTS) will very shortly supplement the current BA programme (3 years, 180 ECTS). 

The reflective and critical input of theory is essential in students’ careers to strengthen their creative potential and technical skills with in-depth analyses and a capacity for anticipation and exploration. 

Employment rate: 50 %

Main features of the position (in close association with the teaching staff): 

- Theoretical instruction in ‘History and Theory of Architecture and Design’ for the BA in Interior Architecture
- Supervision of theoretical works for the BA in Interior Architecture
- Cross-disciplinary theoretical instruction in the Design programmes in the form of seminar classes
- Participation in research and/or Ra&D projects
- Cultural project proposals and implementation (conference cycles, seminars, exhibitions, publications)

Profile: 
- Graduate diploma from a university or a higher education institution in History of Architecture, with a major in Interior Architecture or equivalent
- Teaching experience at graduate level in the field of architecture or any related field
- Ability to open the subject being taught to other fields of study
- Ability to connect theoretical courses to practical and professional projects
- Human and organisational qualities
- Good teamwork skills, ability to foster knowledge sharing and exchange and to carry out collective projects in a changing environment
- Excellent language skills in French and English, both oral and written
- Research skills
