Plants and Pathogens group

The interactions between plants, pathogenic microorganisms and microorganisms that are antagonistic to these pathogens and to insect pests is arousing great interest and great expectations in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, in a context aiming to reduce the use of chemical pesticides.

Numerous bacterial and fungal organisms in microbiological control are also organisms that reside in the soil, which they can modify through their biological activity. They also have properties that are usable in pollution control.

Also, certain favourable interactions also facilitate the use of biotechnology in vegetable crops for the production of secondary metabolites of high added value (perfumes and aromas).

These are the three main areas of activity to which the Plants and Pathogens group applies its skills.
