Areas of expertise

The Plants and Pathogens group has varied and specific skills that can respond to specific requests from companies and professional associations in the agricultural and food sectors, such as:

  • Developing agents for microbiological control and microbial bio-stimulants (bacteria, fungi) as well as microbial depollution agents;
  • Performing conventional and molecular diagnostics of plant diseases;
  • Offering a service for the genetic profiling of plants or microbes, as well as the molecular sexing of plants for certain species;
  • Perform genomics on bacteria and fungi, as well as metagenomics and metatranscriptomics of complex environments (micro-biomes of plants, soils, waste water, commercial products, etc.);
  • Grow crops consisting of special horticultural species under the national action plan for the conservation and sustainable use of plant-breeding resources for food and agriculture;
  • Constantly maintain skills in in vitro plant growing (development and production);
  • Test various techniques for the endotherapy of woody species;
  • Act as an adviser for the management of sports turf to the Swiss football association.
