Workshop: Red de Tamboreras

November 2021

Students : Clarisse Dagod, Oélia Gouret, Sebastian Davila, Mbaye Diop, Arielle Tarzia, Maria Fernanda Ordonez Pinson

The meeting in circle in the cultural expressions of the Colombian Caribbean is a meeting point with the universe of ancestral knowledge. On this occasion, we bring directly from the North of Colombia, the Tambor Alegre, the Tambora, the Llamador, the Maracas and the Guache. In addition to this, we will introduce traditional songs through three representative rhythms of the Caribbean Coast, such as Garabato, Cumbia and Bullerengue, which represent a sonic geography and social behavior evolved from the mixture of the three ethnic groups present in the territory: indigenous, African and Spanish. The learning will be done using the methodologies created by Orito Cantora and Jenn del Tambó to teach the basic postures, rhythms and sounds of the traditional instruments through play, onomatopoeia and body percussion, essential tools of the oral tradition.
