Workshop - Material as a source of inspiration

July 2021

Guest : Maude Massard-Friat (materiuum)
Assistants : Paule Perron et Manon Portera (Atelier apropå)

The aim of this workshop is to find a second life for building materials that are discarded. These are part of a renovation project of about 400 flats in Petit-Saconnex, Geneva, that began in the summer of 2021. In these flats, materials have been replaced for various reasons (normative, aesthetic, etc.).

Students works with these materials and give them a second life: either by integrating them into a project idea for a particular material, or by developing a process/system that could be applied to several different materials.

Students will discover how the dismantling of certain buildings is done and the steps required for a recycling project. They will discover a new way of looking at the interior design project by starting from the available material and developing their creativity.
