Teachable machines - Matteo Loglio
Every day we hear news about artificial intelligence and machine learning, but what exactly is it and how can we use it in the practice of interaction design?
This workshop aimed to shed light on artificial intelligence and its creative applications for arts and design practitioners. Participants moreover learned during this one week workshop how to integrate AI into their projects and use machine learning algorithms in a playful way. After an introduction of such technologies in fields such as art, science or design, design prototyped and refined their ideas using various tools presented by Matteo. At the end of this workshop, they gained a better understanding and expertise of existing machine learning libraries and prototyping applications that can then easily be used for their own projects: from ml5.js to Wekinator. The workshop also resulted in a “demo-day” session: where students presented to their classmates their design ideas and prototypes involving machine vision, image recognition and other intelligent algorithms.
