Summer School - Into the E-Metroplis

August 2025 to September 2025

Workshop in Ghana

The summer school Into the E-Metropolis is a two-week program bringing together students from HEAD and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. Open to students from the various Bachelor’s and Master’s programs at HEAD – Geneva, this interdisciplinary and collaborative workshop addresses Ghana’s relationship with electronic waste.

Far from the stereotypical image of the country as a “computer graveyard,” the project highlights the ecosystem of workers involved in recycling, repair, and metal processing linked to modern technologies. By combining fieldwork with artistic practices, the students explore the environmental and human impact of digital progress. At the end of the program, an exhibition at BlaxTarlines in Kumasi will showcase the collaborative works created by students from both institutions.

This project is made possible thanks to the support of HES-SO and HEAD.
