The students of Space and Communication proposed several interventions for the Verbier Art Summit, an annual weekend long conference in Verbier with the objective of generating innovative ideas and exploring the potential of art to effect social change. This year’s theme, “Resource Hungry”, inspired proposals about the effects of climate change, our changing relationship to the natural environment, and considerations about the material sustainability.
Alessandra Hoffman and Tejal Gala collaborated on a modular seating system, fabricated from repurposed awning fabric in order to foster new relations during the many talks and conferences that make up the Verbier Art Summit. The fabric seat covers created new configurations within the space of the conference hall, disrupting the staid conference format and offering new possibilities for meeting and exchange.
