Intimacy Exposed: Toilet, Bathroom, Restroom

December 2018

Colloque international Intimacy Exposed: Toilet, Bathroom, Restroom

On December 10th and 11th, 2018 took place at HEAD the international conference Intimacy Exposed: Toilet, Bathroom, Restroom. The conference was organized by the Interior Architecture Department of HEAD–Genève, in collaboration with the Institute for Art Research and design (IRAD) of HEAD–Genève and the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

The two days of conference brought together numerous researchers, architects, interior designers, designers and scientists. They debated the question of intimacy and toilet. Because of its transition from a two-dimensional item into an object, then a room, and finally an environment—which often acts as a meeting place—the toilet is a formidable tool to reflect on the current circumstances of interior architecture.

A scenography was imagined by the first year students in interior architecture (Studio of Youri Kravtchenko, assisted by Manon Portera).
