Dramaturgy of the self

The space given to video conferences is paradoxical: while we are forced to communicate from the privacy of our homes, the image that is presented online is too often that of generic and impersonal decor. During the inaugural week of 2020, MA students in Interior Architecture, in collaboration with the students of the Camondo school and with the support of Léonid Slonimskiy and Paul Marchesseau, carried out projects for a new typology of spaces intended to host their video conference conversations. They explored various strategies of isolation or staging in order to come up with 12 different approaches. Their designs include wallpaper, furniture and booths, and enable us to consider our online representation from a new angle, and thus our relationship with our physical environment.
