Humanity Art Prize 2020 - CarEvents

October 2020

The Art and Humanity Prize rewards students or graduates who have achieved the best artistic creation in Visual Arts, Design or Cinema, in relation to the “Principle of Humanity”. The Public Prize, worth CHF 2,000, was awarded to MA students in Interior Architecture Dany Champion, Marion Vergne and Karen Pisoni for their CarEvents project, which the public and internet users voted for by text message.

CarEvents fosters reflection on the conditions of people living in the margins of society, in need or simply alone. This project offers new scenarios and seeks, in a subtle way, to generate encounters and moments of sharing and dialogue in the premises of Caritas in Geneva – an organisation that fights against poverty and supports asylum seekers, disadvantaged refugees and migrants, the elderly, and teenagers in difficult family situations.Taking into account the limited financial budget, the project makes maximum use of the spatial and social potential of Caritas. Indeed, workers looking to reintegrate into the labour market, which the association supports, as well as employees, volunteers, and material resources from the second-hand market represent real resources to be enhanced. At the same time, this project highlights a possible economic degrowth by applying the principle of upcycling, thus promoting a sustainable and responsible practice within a circular economy. Furthermore, the elements of the project are designed in a simple way so that they can be produced in the future socio-professional workshops (EsFor) that Caritas will set up.
