CERCCO & HEPIA | Workshop de la Terre sur le Toit | Céramique et Biodiversité
Conducted jointly by HEAD (Interior Architecture and CERCCO) and HEPIA (Landscape Architecture), this workshop conducted research on the creation of terra cotta basins with a view to their definitive installation in a garden built on the roof of an administrative building of the HES-GE.
Under the direction of Magdalena Gerber (HEAD) and Eric Amos (HEPIA) and Isabelle Schnederle, Paule Perron and Thomas Sébille
During the workshop the students became familiar with the complex techniques of clay and reflected on the implementation of irrigation systems and retention basins in the built environment.
The objectives were: Re-inventing forms and new materiality to respond to the requirements of biodiversity (fauna, flora, ...) | Designing typologies of water containers and experimenting with their manufacture in clay | Developing containers adapted to the topography of the green roof | Interacting with water collectors (rain tree) and different modes of water supply - gravitational runoff | Research into materials adapted to the situation, Learn about testing techniques such as water permeability and frost resistance as well as feasibility studies for implementation.
After a search for funds, a selected project is planned for 2022 at the Briquetterie in Payerne.
