Maladresse vestimentaire
Sartorial clumsiness refers to the details you notice about the way someone wears an item of clothing. It relates to small incidents, a garment worn the wrong way or stained for example. It is often funny for the onlooker, embarrassing for the wearer. Sartorial clumsiness often goes hand in hand with a rough start to a day or rushing to leave. It often happens to people who are distracted or in a hurry. If today most fashion images are retouched, the clothes we wear in our everyday life often get crumpled, stained or damaged. It is these imperfections that inspire me. I documented some of them in a photography project. It became the starting point for the collection. As for the pieces, they are classic: jeans, sweaters, shirts, coats, skirts etc. The challenge: combine sartorial clumsiness and archetypal garments without it being simply a styling trick. I turned to cuts and fabrics.
By creating my own fabrics, I could produce irregularities in the fabric itself. Each clumsy wearing of a garment or imperfection inspired a fabric: a crumpled garment became a fabric with a crumpled-effect, a protruding label became a fabric weaved out of labels.
