BAYLON

September 2024 to January 2025

Studio led by Line Fontana and David Fagart (Fagart & Fontana)
Assisted by Lola Jutzeler, Marie Schild

The long project of the first semester spans nine weeks and this year explores the theme of living and working on an industrial site located on Rue Baylon, in the PAV area of Geneva. The studio invites students to work on layouts and even spatialize new setups that connect productive spaces with domestic spaces, communal spaces with intimate spaces, public spaces with private spaces.

As an experimental preamble to the design of the project, we wanted to explore new practices by engaging with the question of the body within the space of the climate metropolis. To do this, we participated in the call for projects organized by PAV Living Room, presenting a performance created by the students entitled Surimpression. Following this, we proposed an architectural exploration through the project, where both individually and collectively, a reflection on living and working was conducted—specifically, how to spatialize the places in which we live, but also where we work.
