Atelier Transformation

February 2017

Workshop led by Carlo Parmigiani assisted by Florine Wescher

Living in a place
The semester project meets the study mandate for the reorganization of the current Catalog Room of the Bastions library in Geneva. Installed in the Parc des Bastions since 1873, La Bibliothèque de Genève is has a long and rich history. At the instigation of the Geneva legal deposit established in 1539 and disposes of the collections of the Academy and the College created by Calvin in 1559, it constitutes one of the keystones of the thought of the Reformation.

The students questioned the current functioning of the library and the various proposals emerging in Switzerland abroad in the world of libraries. They propose, by referring to the notion of 3rd place which appears in the wake of the contemporary uses of work, a series of functionings and arrangements of space.
