Back to School - a way to hit the road

The Cinema Department wanted to build with forty-three students with a red wire, the end of the ball at its beginning: The movie posters, as the ultimate gesture of completion movies, music, and movies like delicate meeting, the discovery of a film and an author of importance as a commitment in the world and finally the opening of a book of Jeux sérieux (Serious games).

Cinema Music
Wonderful day spent with Nicolas Rabaeus, young Swiss composer of film music, teaching music theory, students with the Cinema Department and several students with the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva. After reflecting on the meaning of music in cinema through the most diverse examples (Hollywood cinema auteur cinema, via documentary) on the border between in and off, and the influence Psychological music on the viewer, Nicolas Rabaeus considered with students present the most practical aspects of collaboration between filmmaker and composer, without neglecting the thorny issue of rights.

Projection of Zendj Revolution, followed by a masterclass with Tariq Teguia, led by Cyril Neyrat.
From his native Algeria, extending its territory from film to film, Tariq Teguia has become one of the great inventor of forms of contemporary cinema. Zendj Revolution, his last feature film, is a «fiction mapping» across the Mediterranean world: on the trail of the ghosts of past struggles, Teguia revolves Thessaloniki and Beirut, Algeria and Iraq in a narrative
constellation resistance forces in neo-capitalist program of the world market homogenization.

Launch of Jeux sérieux (Serious games) with Jean Perret, Bertrand Bacqué, Cyril Neyrat, Noëlle Pujol and Véronique Terrier Hermann
To mark the official opening of «Jeux sérieux, cinéma et art contemporains transforment l’essai» («Jeux sérieux, cinema and contemporary art transform the trial»), the team presented the book-event to students of the Department Cinema / Film actual HEAD - Geneva. At first, Jean Perret recalled the educational importance of such a work in the course of students. Bertrand Bacqué gave some test definitions starting from canonical texts (from Montaigne to Gorin, through Adorno) and Cyril Neyrat inspired by a reading of the summary said the key axes of this work which, in its very conception , proposes as an essay on contemporary essay, as well as its multiple origins (literary, philosophical and critical) and its various centers of production. In the afternoon, the fruitful dialogue between Noëlle Pujol (artist and filmmaker) and Véronique Terrier Hermann around 332 Dossier (2012) helped to reflect on a concrete example halfway between cinema and contemporary art.
