As part of the MIDIS ARCHI lecture series, you are cordially invited by the Interior Architecture Department of HEAD – Genève to attend Marlène Huissoud conference, which will take place on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.
Marlène Huissoud grew up in the Alps in a family of beekeepers, which sparked her fascination with insects. After studying at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon and at Central Saint Martins in London, she specialized in the creative exploration of bees and silkworms. Bees produce propolis, a natural biodegradable resin, while the silkworm cocoon offers rich potential for the creation of new materials.
Her work challenges our impact on the planet and on insects. She seeks to promote education and responsibility, consciously engaging in a practice that uses natural resources to create sculptural and functional pieces that question the role of design and art in society.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous distinctions, including the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris in 2024 for her commitment. Her work has been exhibited worldwide in institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Centre Pompidou, the Sferik Museum, Art Basel, and Design Miami.
