Invited by apropå as part of the course Circularity and Materials.

Collectif La Fonte, Collectif Galta, and the students of the HEAD – MAIA master’s program invite you to discover the architectural reconversion processes behind this building complex, which was originally destined for demolition.

Currently undergoing transformation, the site is being reinvented to host community and cultural activities: a café/bar, concerts, residencies, workshops, as well as exhibition and conference programs. This new space is organized around two complementary hubs: a cultural hub and a reuse hub, open to everyone, dedicated to sharing, learning, and exchanging skills, as well as providing materials for new projects.

The students’ work focused on making materials legible and accessible by documenting the reuse processes implemented within the project. They also took part in the participatory construction site in order to better understand the materials and the constraints involved through hands-on manipulation and implementation. Finally, they designed the spatial organization of the future resource center, with the aim of showcasing the stock of materials as a genuine architectural and collective resource.
