You will be responsible for designing and producing high-quality illustrations, characters, backgrounds, and UI elements for our upcoming puzzle adventure game.
The project is scheduled to start on mid-October 2025. This work is to be carried out over a period of eight months, to be organized in accordance with the project’s workflow.
As this is a publicly funded research project, the deliverables/assets (and their sources, where applicable) will be released under the CC BY-SA free license.
Minimum Requirements
• Distinct artistic style: Demonstrates a personal and recognizable visual style.
• Digital Illustration Skills: Proficient in digital illustration tools (e.g., Gimp, Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio Paint, etc.).
• 2D Animation for Games: Experience creating 2D animations specifically for video games.
• Interest in Game Development: Genuine motivation to participate in the creation of a video game and contribute to its visual identity.
Desired Requirements (if you do not meet all of them, we still encourage you to apply)
• Experience with Godot Engine: Familiarity with Godot and its asset pipeline.
• UI/UX Design: Previous experience designing user interfaces and HUDs for games.
• Exporting and Optimizing Assets: Knowledge of preparing assets for game engines (sprite sheets, atlases, etc.).
• Basic Understanding of Game Development Workflow: Ability to collaborate using version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Interest in Narrative Art: Passion for storytelling through visual design.
• Experience in Agile Teams: Comfortable working in iterative, collaborative environments.
Duties
• Design and Create Visual Assets: Illustrate and animate characters, backgrounds, and game elements in a cohesive style.
• UI and Interface Creation: Design and produce user interfaces, menus, and HUD elements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design and programming teams to ensure seamless integration of your art into the game.
• Creative Contribution: Participate in creative meetings and contribute ideas to enhance the visual direction of the project.
• Task Management: Organize and manage your own tasks autonomously, meeting deadlines and project milestones.
